Okay ladies, here
he is:

Whaddya think? Again, I think they did really well - not that his looks are perfect, but they've got plenty of potential, and what's more his acting will be easily up to par (which is definitely the bigger factor). So I for one am pretty happy about it! And at least now I can stop checking boards 6 times a day. (I've told you, I'm obsessed & it ain't going away.) Share what you think!

Oh, I am seriously disappointed. I've only been able to find a handful of pictures of him -- and I can't for the life of me remember him from Harry Potter -- and what I've seen is not anywhere near Edwardesque good looking. Nowhere near. I'm sure it will be fine in the end -- and i do love their casting choice for Bella, so we'll just have to keep our minds open.
Sincerely,
Disappointed in California
hmmmmm.
on first glance, a little disappointed, because he is not how i imagined edward in my mind. bit that he is not attractive--just not how i pictured him. but i think he will rise to the occasion. i'm excited to see who else gets cast (or is it casted? chosen for the parts?) i'm glad i have you to keep me in the loop.
To Sooz - and all others out there who feel let down - I submit for your viewing this clip:

It's one of his scenes from Vanity Fair, in which he had a small part. If you don't see Edward after watching this, I'll personally write a letter to Summit Films in protest on your behalf. :D
I should also add this - here are some comments about him that Stephenie Meyer made on her MySpace page:

Apparently his auditions blew them away & after they saw him, the search was over. She also says that he's got a flawless American accent, has "excellent chemistry" with Bella (Kristen Stewart), and has read all three books! She is very happy with this choice, so that encourages me a lot.
(Sooz & Brookers: we'll have HP4 when you come to Utah, so we'll have to watch his scenes together. I remember first seeing that movie & being extremely impressed with his acting! Trust me, it's a good thing!)
ok....not gonna lie i liked that other guy you told me about looks wise. but i'm sure they know what they're doing and will be fine.....................who knows. but yes, lets watch harry potter and see his skills at work!
well day 2 of the edward news....and yes STILL BUGGED! i watched that clip of him in vanity fair and i'm still not a fan:(
I watched the clip too and I'm still not a fan either, but I'm not bugged. Just apathetic at this point. It is what it is.
Let's just hope these casting people aren't the same ones who cast Tom Hanks in Da Vinci Code. That was a "WHAT?!!!" moment for me and unfortunately seeing the final product didn't change my mind about that casting call...
