We were booked in the "Waterfall Terrace" room, and I can honestly say I've never been in a nicer hotel room. It was so beautiful, well done hubby!
The view from our balcony:
There was even a little family of deer grazing outside our window!
Thanks for wonderful surprise hubby, I love it!
For dinner we went to the nearby Snake Creek Grill, and I discovered that I LOVE Bernaise sauce! How fancy am I? And I got my second taste of creme brulee & decided that I definitely love that stuff!
After dinner, I found out why I'd been instructed to dress warmly: we were going to the nearby Midway Skate Haus to go... ice skating! Colby, voluntarily going ice skating?! He really pulled out all the stops for this anniversary! He was so worried about his lack of skating skill - and wouldn't you know it, he didn't fall once.
Instead, I was the one who took one or two mild spills - a direct result of me trying to revive my skating skills of yore with some spins & a leap or two (yeah, right). Next time I'll just stick to leisurely laps around the rink. :) I did manage to make some pretty swirls in the ice with my turns:
You know, getting up off the couch to get out & enjoy athletic activity is pretty fun after all! I'll ignore my my full set of sore stomach muscles as I type that...
The next morning, as we prepared to head home, we looked out the windows to find this awaiting us:
By the time the snow finally let up at noon, we'd gotten dumped with over 2 FEET of the soft stuff!
Between buried cars & a snowplow that couldn't even get all the way down the long driveway, we were officially snowed in! So we took the bags back up to our room & settled in for another relaxing day in our luxury digs.
24 hours & 1 Pooper-Bowl later (stupid Pats...let's not open that wound again...), we were on the road - headed back to our home & our Monkey. After all, 2 days off Emma-duty is nice, but going without that electric smile for 2 days is such a hefty price to pay!
Thanks again to Grandmas Joni & Jane for keeping her in such excellent care. You made it sound so easy from your end, we may just have to do it again sometime! And here's a BIIIG "I love you!" to my wonderful husband who spent months planning & plotting to give me a romantic, relaxing weekend in a breathtaking place. What a guy, huh?!
"Yeah, he's dreamy..."
