But I'll be catching up soon, for sure! Colby's been assigned to do a post about his recent life upgrades - job, car, smaller clothes, etc. As for me, I had a great time going out to Baci's new house to help them move in & also to play with adorable Baby Alex! (And, possibly, to escape Emma for a moment or two. hehe) Baci, I'm still in love with your new place - has all your other new furniture come? And how far have you gotten on the "Things to finish" list? :)
(FYI - this kid has THE BIGGEST yawns I've seen on a baby, and bigger than most adults! Baci says he's totally gets it from his dad. C'mon you two, is life really that dull? You do have the Bacinator for a mommy/wife, that's gotta keeps things pretty interesting...)But, as anticipated, I missed my little monster like CRAZY while I was gone! Because although she is a willful little pain much of the time, she is flat-out bucket of laughs ALL of the time. She is soaking up all the little adult phrases that we hand her & then tossing 'em right back at us in just the perfect moments. She loves to tell us, "Good plan", "Great idea", "I am pretty sure", "It's not working, it needs new batteries", (wipes her brow & says) "Phew, that was close" and the best one, "It is so bea-u-ti-ful!" A few of her best soundbytes:
- Just last night: (She is a talker at bedtime, and we're constantly telling her, "Emma, stop talking, it's time for bed.") Colby was putting her down, and as I'm listening through the monitor to them doing battle - Emma using all her stall tactics as Colby tries to block them - he starts trying to sing her bedtime songs, to which she very sternly says "No Daddy, STOP talking - it's time for bed." Ouch.
- The other week in sacrament meeting, we were singing the closing song & then we said the closing prayer. Emma did so well, folding her arms & bowing her head; and when the prayer ended she declared loudly "AMEN." Which was followed immediately, at full volume filling the whole chapel, with "WE ALL DONE!!!!" And then repeated twice more. :)
- The next week after closing prayer, she said her "Amen" just like everyone else, then hopped right off her chair & started running for the door, yelling "LET'S GET OUT OF HERE!!!" I swear we're trying to teach her that church is a nice place, we're not church-haters, Bishop!
- Emma sings songs. It's what she does, all day long - in the car, playing with toys, eating meals, going to bed... And she knows all the words & actual tunes to many songs! Current favorites: Child of God, "Family Song" (Families Can Be Together Forever), "Temple Song" (I Love To See The Temple), ABC's, A You're Adorable, the Wonder Pets theme, "Poor Baby Squirrel" from Wonder Pets, "The Oasis" from WP, "Brown Cow Down" from WP, many other WP songs - yes, she is currently obsessed with Wonder Pets.
- Along those lines, she's taken lately to leading us in a round of "Row Row Row Your Boat." She'll sing it, then say "Now Daddy sing it." Then when he finishes - "That's swell! Now Mommy sing it." (Sometimes she'll also instruct Minnie or Goofy to sing it, and we have to pull out our best Disney voices.) Then, she'll declare, "Now we'll sing it all together. I go first." And we'll sing it in a round, lapping over each other until she decides we're done. Classic.

What a gal! She seems like the perfect little Colby-Kristen combination! One day you're going to love that you wrote this all down... and she'll laugh that you thought she was so cute! (Not that I have any experience in this area... just that I imagine it will be this way!) Miss you guys and love you bunches!
Hmmm the "to do" list is going pretty good... I have to say, our pretty little dining room became a bit cluttered again because we had to move everything from the living room into there while Scott finishes the floor. If everything goes according to plan, the wood floor should be in by Tuesday or Wednesday... and then I might actually get to have my kitchen again! Hooray!
Alex's bedroom is looking AWESOME. It's pretty much organized... still working on setting up his dresser/changing table, but that's not bad.
Our bedroom is pretty good, but we are realizing we desperately need another dresser.
The guest bedroom needs help still... that's where some of the unfinished boxes and bins ended up; however, the second bookshelf is up and loaded with binders and DVDs. Yay!
There's still a good chunk left to do, but it's looking better and better! When we are done, I will post some pictures.
We miss you guys desperately!!! I hope all three of you come out again soon.
