Gone, baby, gone

Well right now, Colby is winging his way to the big town, and Emma & I are already feeling quite lost. Who's gonna make bad jokes that I can roll my eyes at? Who's gonna come up with games that make Emma laugh harder than I've ever seen? Who's gonna find that one spot where the satellite remote works so that we can fast-forward through commercials & continue watching our Mythbusters reruns? Who's gonna read books to Emma at bedtime & help her stop crying at night when Mommy isn't pulling it off? Who's gonna sincerely tell me I look gorgeous when I feel like Medusa herself? Who's gonna give us our big Daddy hugs??

This is one big void, folks. Things could get ugly... In the meantime, I've added Colby as an author to the blog so that he can start giving some of his own updates from back East. So now that I've mentioned it, you'll all be expecting it & Colby will surely post regular updates to keep our fans happy? Right, Colbs? :D

We love you Daddy & already miss you beyond words. But we're so happy for you to have this great experience - try to enjoy everything about it & we'll come out to see you soon!

EDIT - Just realized I've never really talked on here about what Colby's doing... He accepted a job at the Dept. of Justice, but it's a presidential appointment so it ends with this administration on Jan. 20th. Since it's so short-term, we're staying in Salt Lake while he moves out there for the 5 months. And now, in hindsight, I'm seeing that this wasn't the best plan!!!!! :(

OH man... I feel your pain. Jason and I have been apart for over 14 months now, but it's coming to a close in the next 3-4 weeks! WAHOO!!! Of course there are no kids involved, which I'm sure adds a whole other layer of complexity. Good luck! At least you've got family nearby, that has to help!!! And yeah... can't wait for the Colby posts! Jason's post are FAN FAVORITES on our blog.

ahhh we just did that for a month from June to July and it was HARD. But we were in Dallas without family so at least you'll be with your family. Still its hard. Go out and see him all the time, its probably expensive but well worth it. How cool of an experience to look back on!!

Congrats on the new job Colby! Sorry to hear that you guys have to be apart. I know that is zero fun. Plan lots of fun little visits to DC, and keep busy! Plan a trip to San Diego too... your favorite friend wants to see you! :-)
