** Upon review this post, I just realized that it is very photo-heavy, and there are ZERO pictures of the cute kids.
So if that's all you're here for, feel free to go back to your Bingo card. **
It's that time of year again - Anniversary!! 9th, this time around, and we were able to enjoy a wonderful time at our favorite little B&B, Johnson Mill up in Midway. (our 2nd time there, we highly recommend it!)
We dined, yet again, at the
Snake Creek Grill and ate ourselves silly with reeeeeeediculously glorious food. Those au gratin potatoes should be illegal... Again, we highly recommend it.
We didn't initially have specific plans for after dinner, but there was a flyer in the hotel room for something called the "
Midway Ice Castles", which certainly sounded promising - so off we went. And the Ice Castles did NOT DISAPPOINT!!!
!
(this is where the pictures are abundant - these things were too good to not take as many photos as I could!)

(yes, we're walking around with ski poles, or what I like to call "the tailbone saver" - that place was flat-out dangerous.) |
 |
Where'd Colby go?? |
 |
There he is. :) |
Coolest. Thing. Ever!!! Yeah, we're gonna be making a day trip up to Midway with the kids sometime soon...
Since it was colder than a snowman's tushie overnight, the next morning brought a beautiful frost over everything that was just begging to be photographed. (And I do mean COLD - during the 20 minutes we spent walking around the grounds, the water bottle Colby was carrying froze about 1/3rd through.)

The pond around the gazebo was totally frozen over, so we decided to head down there and get adventurous...
 |
Stepping off the walkway, some water started to seep out from underneath & looked pretty cool. |
 |
Colby tests things out - seems fine, so we set the timer & we head out onto the pond... | | |

 |
...and quickly retreat when we hear THIS happening: |
 |
I should've put the water bottle down to help with scale - that's like a 10-foot crack, people! |
 |
So, just one of us gets the shot, and I lost the straw draw. And in turn, you all lose too. :( |
 |
why do I continue to let Colby have the camera when he asks for it... |
 |
The other side of the ice held up much better |

Until next time, Johnson Mill! |
(and one more stop at the ice castles on the way out of town. :D I love those things, I wanna live in one!)
(p.s. - I spotted this in someone's backyard on Main St.; I'm pretty sure witches live in it!! Creeptastic, no?!)
I'm so lucky to be married to someone whom I so greatly enjoy spending time with - maybe this is the year I'll start to get sick of him.
But I doubt it. :) Next up: the big 10!!!
