PEANUT!!

Between all the guesses here, on Facebook, and texting, everyone of course got it right. Wasn't too hard, I know. :)

So here's the scoop: I'm 10 1/2 weeks along, due on 10/8. We actually wouldn't be telling people this early, except for the series of events that led to this adorable little snapshot. Flashback to...

Friday morning about a week & a half ago, I woke up with some bleeding; much more than spotting & enough to make me assume "Here this goes again." So I called my doctor & went in for an ultrasound, fully expecting the technician to look around for a minute or two before telling me, "I can't see anything, I'm sorry."

Imagine my surprise when the tech waves the little wand for about 3 seconds, before she starts telling me, "Okay there's the baby, looking great." !!!!! "You can see the heartbeat right there." !!!!! "You're actually about 10 days further along than you thought." !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 'Scuse me, what the, huh?! Yeah, the day turned out a LOT better than I thought it would at the beginning. :)

The explanation is, I have a low lying placenta; basically, the placenta is usually up at the top above the baby, but mine is below. So little bits of, stuff, can slough off & it's essentially nothing to worry about. In fact the nurse said I'll possibly have more bleeding until the placenta gradually makes its way further up (which it does in most cases). If, by chance, it doesn't do that before delivery, it's called placenta previa & I'll have to have a C-section. Fingers crossed that doesn't happen!

I've been feeling... just alright, I suppose. But doing a lot better now that I have this little pic hanging on the fridge to give me peace of mind. Amazing what the word "heartbeat" can do for your outlook. :) Now we're just entirely excited!!
