Well, it's my birthday tomorrow, so I'll have some fun posting to do on that! And on Wednesday we get (or are hoping to get) a very special treat: my low-lying placenta has earned us an early ultrasound and we should be able to find out then if we're having a boy or a girl! Any guesses? I'm not saying I'll have a prize for whoever's right or anything, but it's still fun to guess!
So for now, I just have some recent Emma-thoughts to share:
- The other night, Emma still wasn't asleep after an hour in bed. I went down to investigate, and she'd pulled her socks off. She told me, "Mommy, I need new socks. Those socks are weird."
- She thinks Tigger is cute. I know because she tells me this many times a day. "Mommy, I think Tigger is Ceee-uuuuuu-te." (Saying "cute" drawn-out like that.)
- Emma can spell her name. I'm so proud of her, I've been making her spell her name for everyone. At this point she's probably thinking, "Mommy, we keep doing this - haven't you learned it yet? I guess I'll just have to keep telling you until you get it..."
- My lil' Miss No-Nap surprised the snot outta me & took naps 6 days in a row last week!!! It was SO great; it's just ridiculous how much better she is when she's had a nap. Overall, her sleep has improved lately & I'm very happy about it.
- Emma tells everyone & their dog about the new baby. It's pretty fun to watch as people laugh uncomfortably, while they're obviously thinking, "Uh-oh, was she supposed to say that? Is it still a secret?" She's SUPER excited about the new baby - I've had to spend a bit of time convincing her that it's just Mommy having a baby, Emma doesn't have a baby in her tummy. (The other night while going to sleep, she threw her pillow out of the crib because she insisted it "hurts the baby." Took a good 10 minutes of convincing before she'd lay back down on it.)
- She has perfected her somersaults into one smooth & effortless motion, worthy of any judge's "10" - I'll try to post a video soon.
- Emma is the queen of declarative statements & positive reinforcement. Today, while piling basketballs into a wagon in the backyard, she proudly said to Colby, "I am SO good at this." A minute later, when one basketball missed and rolled away from the wagon, she stated, "That was not a very nice try." But then she got it in & said "That was great." All day long I hear things like, "Great idea, Mommy!" or "Let's give it a try." or "Okay, that's a good plan." When we eat our cereal in the morning, she'll watch me take a bite & then pat my shoulder, telling me, "Very good eating, Mommy." lol Thanks, Emma. Whenever she does manage to have a nap, she'll spend the first little while after she wakes up telling me "I had a great nap, I feel so happy." I'm also quite sure that, at some point when she's been on the potty, I've heard her say, "I did some great pooping!" (She gets very enthusiastic about her poops, but that's most likely just because I do too.) And yesterday when we got home from church, she started telling Colby "Thank you for church and nursery, and for the nice songs." And then told me thank you, too. :D
I spend all day listening to her & wondering, "Where did you get that from?" There is just no way she's only 2.
So let the record show - I may whine about her a whole lot, but I LOVE my darling little Emmanema, from her whiz kid head down to her bouncin' wigglin' toes. :)
