We're back in the routine of school life, at home & at work, and so our days march on with essentially the same pattern every day. But of course, with Emma around to spice things up, no two days are ever alike! She is really too funny for words, and here's a picture that demonstrates a little of what I'm talking about:
Yep, she came up with this all on her own. The other afternoon, she came around the corner like this, and proceeded to tour the house with her drawers pulled up to her hips. No clue! She does random stuff like this all the time, I really don't know where her inspiration comes from - just a natural-born eccentric, I guess! She's got good heritage in it, to be sure. (calling all Grandma Janes...) 'Course, we have to be rich to claim the title "eccentric", and so for now she'll have to accept the humbler title of "crazy."Another funny moment: at work, we only have an old-fashioned high chair to work with (no tray, no straps, no padding) and considering Emma's inability to sit still for longer than... no seconds... I've had to get creative to stay sane at mealtime. So, here's what I've come up with:
A recent favorite activity: playing with the 50-cent maracas leftover from the Lazenby's Mexican-themed birthday party last year. 2 little girls, and about 2 dozen noise-makers... has anyone invented the reverse-hearing aid yet?!
And lastly... the tooth! I've been working on it & finally captured the elusive little chomper on camera:
Sorry for the messy face closeup, this was during dinner. At least she doesn't have a mouthful of hamburger meat... She's had a pretty rough time getting it in; can't wait for numbers 2 & 3 & 4... it never really ends! A big thanks goes out to Grandma Joni, who sent Emma her first toothbrush & toothpaste. Emma loves to brush right after breakfast, with Mom helping out on technique. A lifetime of proper dental hygiene, off to a good start!

Amy and I are reading this blog entry together and both died to hear that you are brushing Emma's teeth!! Or should I say, emerging single tooth. We shamefully admit that our children's teeth (plural) only get brushed every few days. (ssshhh...Don't tell Uncle Ron)
Do you offer over-the-phone parenting classes?
Yeah, ladies, don't be too impressed... our morning "brushing" involves no toothpaste, and consists of me sticking the brush in her mouth, and brushing back & forth across the tooth before she grabs it away and walks around chewing on it for the next half hour. :D At least she humors me for a few short seconds...
you went blog crazy
