This evening at 7:00 pm, President Gordon B. Hinckley, the 15th President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, passed away in his home surrounded by family. He was 97 years old, and died from causes related to age.
We can hardly express in words how deeply we loved President Hinckley & what great sadness this brings. But above the sadness is joy for the completion of his glorious life here on Earth, always spent in service to the Lord. He was a beautiful example of humility, optimism, and faith. I think we will always consider him to be "our prophet", and he will forever hold a very special place in our hearts. We will miss you, President Hinckley!
