Okay, they just did the little intro dance bits, and - where the CRAP is Alex?!?!
No, not injured!! Poor cute thing, he's even crying on national TV. :( I am humongously sad.
Well, the show must & will go on!
Lauren & Pasha: Um, well, ahem... Okay. So, seriously Lauren, you've really never done the ChaCha before?! Because, that's what we in the business call "a crying shame." Sweetie, go ahead and add Latin Dancer to your business card, 'cause that was PRO!! Yeah.
Jose & Lauren: Okay, maybe Lauren can work her magic on Jose, let's see... Well he did pretty good with that! I loved the dance, and Lauren was really trying to draw him in - for the most part he went there with her. Of course all the other guys in the competition could've done it better, but he gave much more than I thought would come from him. And, I finally saw a bit of what the judges have talked about for weeks, the open emotional purity that they love about him. That dance, in that moment, was just everything to him - that was the best part of it.
Kent & Comfort: Oh man... That dance will definitely earn him a spot - with N'Sync touring on, like, their first album? haha But I guess that's all the dance was really meant to be, not really hip-hop; more like pop-hop. :D I think that Dave Scott intended for it to be a little funkier than what Kent delivered, but it was a fun lite snack that went down nice'n'easy. That's never all that bad.
Adechike & Courtney: This should've won Adechike sooo many points with me, and he totally lost a bunch! I mean, he should've been absolutely LOST in that scenario with Courtney and he just was not. I didn't feel him really playing that part or diving into the moment. So, failed that one, for me. :(
Billy & Katee: Sad for Allyson, but yay for Katee! And you know what, it meant a big win for Billy! He & katee's style are SOOOO well paired, it's ridiculous. This was a style that suited him perfectly, and the quality of his & Katee's movement just played off each other like milk & honey. That was such a HUGE number for Billy, one of the best of the night!
Ashley & Dominic: I really don't know if I can even comment on this number, 'cuz I can't get past A: the music, and B: her PANTS!! I honestly am not sure what else happened on that stage, and I certainly can't bring myself to rewind it. I'll just say, from what I could tell, that Dom definitely killed it & she was decent. :)
Robert & Kathryn: Oi. Man, I don't know exactly what went wrong, but I just know that, for me, that whole thing was just WRONG. I love Roisin Murphy but did not get the connection of the music to that piece; I didn't understand the choreography, and didn't think that it complemented them much as dancers. And because of that, I didn't think either of them danced it very well! How did this happen? The judges seem like they're liking it, so I don't know where it fell apart in my head. But it really did.
Adechike &
Lauren & Kent: My favorites, together at last. Can't wait! - That Kent may have the smile of a sweet little boy, but he partnered that like a MAN! Wow, he was so there for her in every beat, every hold, every reach and touch - you could tell he was wholly in the story & dancing that just for her. And all that support allowed Lauren to be flawless, ahh so flawless! She was being swept away by him and I totally believed that in the dance, completely. Simple, sweet, and so special!
Ashley & Robert: Where to begin. So many little things I could pick on (distracting music, too heavy into the ground, not staying on toes, style confusion - one time they looked more like they were performing a Paso Doble!), but overall I'll just say that the choreographers started off in a tough spot by taking that piece too far away from the spirit of the Quickstep, and so Ashley and Robert had a looong way to go to bring it up. And they didn't, really.
Jose & Billy: hehehe Just typing that is making me laugh... Okay, I'm gonna try my very best to take these guys seriously! Here we go - First off, I'll say that the choreographer was somewhat brilliant in his character assignments & concept for the piece. Jose the hunter? Totally allows his lack of technique and polish to be accounted for, as a rugged warrior. Billy the prey? Perfectly fits his uber-graceful and almost un-human quality of movement. So he really gave them the very best shot at nailing this dance. --- Unfortunately, Jose wasn't really all that committed as the fierce hunter & Billy didn't nearly capture the feeling of the prey fighting for survival. It all just seemed too tame and fell a bit flat. Looking just at the moves, they did dance it fairly well, on par with their abilities; but the performance and the story were truly bland.
So, that's a lot of dances, a lot of highs & lows, and will in 24 hours leave us with a bottom 3: Alex (sadly, that's a given), Robert, and Jose please Jose! It's just time. But it may just be Billy again, hope not.
