Today I am thankful for:
Day-Quil. :D
Or more generally, modern medicine! I'm so blessed to live in an age where the everyday treatment of sickness that we take for granted would have been considered miraculous hundreds of years ago. Illnesses are easily diagnosed, treatment is knowledgeably given, and medicine is readily available.
I don't really have to be overly concerned about dying from childbirth, or having my children die; infections are hardly a worry, easily dealt with through antibiotics; even more recent diseases like cancer are becoming less threatening as we learn more about them.
I'm quite sure that much of the miraculous healing that took place in the scriptures is now seen in hospitals around the world every day, passed off as the product of great scientific discovery attained by highly intelligent minds. Sorry guys - but "scientific advancement" is in fact God deciding that the world needs a particular piece of new information, and inspiring said "intelligent minds" accordingly.
And just because we now have the blessing of understanding how certain healing processes work, that doesn't mean it's any less of a MIRACLE.
*Note: I'm not really talking about the health care system in this country, it's far from perfect; rather, I'm grateful for the level of knowledge we have about the human body and how to make/keep it healthy.
