Down to 4 couples & this thing is getting tight! Let's light it up:
Will & Courtney:
#1 - Great energetic dance, they got the rhythm of the Samba down really well. And MAN, is there a dance that Will can't do?! Courtney (as the judges have said) isn't the best technical dancer, but she's got so much spark poppin' outta her that I never fail to come away very impressed with her. Yeah I thought they both did really great, two sizzles way up.
#2 - Um, it was cool! I mean, I'm not ready to dub it "SYTYCD history" alongside Park Bench & the Hummingbird dance - but they felt the story & really gave the dance just what it needed. So I give it my vote, sure!
Twitch & Katie:
#1 - LOL That was pretty fun. Mia Michaels is just like this rogue choreographer, way out there on her own little planet of weird & wonderful. And might I say, Katie's a little nutsy-psycho, eh?! She's awesome. I thought Twitch did look a little uncomfortable in some phrases, but at most points he was rocking it. Real fun!
#2 - Amen, I loved it! I highly appreciated what Nigel had to say about Twitch because, frankly, it IS amazing that he does what he does with the little training he has. ASTOUNDING! They were both terrific - tight when they should be, loose when they should be, and saucy all the way through!
Mark & Comfort: *I'm gonna rise above this week & acknowledge Comfort's presence, even if she shouldn't still be here.*
#1 - This was a pretty cool hip-hop; it was definitely obvious that one is a hip-hop dancer & one isn't. Not that Mark didn't do great 'cause he did, but he just danced it differently than she did - he's forward in his shoulders & on his toes, and she's more back in her seat, into the ground. So I was having a hard time reconciling that difference, but it was really good.
#2 - I thought this was well done in terms of the steps & lines; Comfort hit her moves but didn't give it anything behind them. There wasn't a connection emotionally, BUT I think Mark got really slighted by the judges on his performance. This dance fit him like a glove & he really sailed through the movements. I feel badly for him; the whole time I was thinking, "Look at Mark go!" I give him big props, even if it didn't translate into a great partner piece.
Joshua & Chelsea:
#1 - That was perhaps the COOLEST tango this show has seen - and FAST!! Man, Legs-For-Days Hightower is at it again - all Joshua really had to do was hold his frame while she flailed those things about wildly. haha Seriously, though, there were so many things about this dance that hit a super-high note, from "the pair of them." Stea-my!!
#2 - Well, this number had its low points, but it sure had its high points, too! Overall, I think Joshua was a bit out of his element but handled it well, not to mention delivering on those lifts. And Chelsea was smack in the zone! She is a sparkly little fireball, that one.
To go this week really has to be Comfort (shocker, I know) and Mark; and the other in the bottom two, I think, will be Courtney & Joshua.
A long overdue update
