Week 4: Two routines?!

Okay I've got a lot of house-cleaning to do, so let's jump right in!

Will & Jessica:
Jive - real good, but AGAIN... Will jived better than her. I don't mean to harp on Jessica, because she's definitely very good. But Nigel's correct in saying that she'd be on thinner ice with another partner.
Lyrical Jazz - She swings & she scores - way to go Jessica!! She knocked that clean out of the park, finally! Will was also total genius, for sure one of the top dances of the night. Brilliant, Mandy Moore!!

Thayne & Comfort:
Broadway - They did do pretty good, but I don't think it's gonna be enough to keep them out of the bottom 3 again, and perhaps from going home.
Smooth Waltz - Again, I thought they did really well; quite beautiful, actually. But I still don't think they're gonna be out of trouble this week.

Kourtni & Matt:
Hip-hop - Man, those are two white kids that cannot do hip-hop.... I do love them, but there was just nothing to that. Pretty mediocre, actually.
Mambo - Hmmm... Well they did a lot better than I thought they were gonna do, actually. But there were some things lacking & after their hip-hop number, they're gonna be doing solos tomorrow night.

Chelsi & Mark:
Jazz - Cool number & I thought they did it GREAT; they totally got the emotional connection & performance down, but technically it could've had a bit more "oomph" in it. But it's them, so of course it's still awesome!
Foxtrot - This is Chelsi's thing, she was totally smooth & fabulous; I think Mark did so well & I really love the diverse dancer that he's turned out to be.

Kherington & Twitch:
Paso Doble - Great, of course great! I love these guys. Not perfect technically, but the hardest part of the Paso is the spirit of it, and they nailed that!
Contemporary - Doing an entire dance on a bed? Huh. Well it is a risk for sure, but it's also a Mia dance & it's these two doing it, and that pretty much dissolves the risk into nothing. Gorgeous!! So unique and special, I really loved it.

Katie & Joshua:
Contemporary - Okay we all know I love Josh, so we all know I'm gonna say that he ROCKED this Mia dance! But I have to say, this was really Katie's time to shine. She just laid it all bare & exploded out of every move. That assisted running move across the stage? Sick! Just flat out sick!! 5 stars, two thumbs waaaay up.
West Coast Swing - Well, this was kindof a swing & a miss for me. I mean, it's hard to fully enjoy it when you're imagining Benji & Heidi doing it instead - because no one does WCS like them. This wasn't terrible, it was fine, but just not all that great.

Courtney & Gev:
Hip-hop - I'm giving Courtney the same props I gave Kherington last week - she didn't dance this like a girl, she just danced it like a hip-hop & it was money! And I sorta agree with the judges, Courtney kinda beat Gev at his own game tonight - although he did just great & I love him!
Broadway - Pretty fun, for sure. There were a number of off moments, timing issues & loss of flow. And the performance could've been a titch less candy-coated & more authentic. But there were also a lot of really swingin' moments & these two have so much going as a couple that I can't imagine then going home anytime too soon.

So bottom 3 this week will be (I think):
1. Thayne & Comfort
2. Kourtni & Matt
3. Argh, I don't know!! Um, either Will & Jessica or (I hate to say it, but I have a little sneaky feeling) Courtney & Gev.

Time will tell!

I didn't get to watch last night because I was on call and it was a baby EXPLOSION in the nursery, so I was taking care of the babies all night long. Bummer. It sounds like it was loads of fun to watch. I guess I'll have to record it next week since I'm call on Wednesday next week too. Lame. Hope all is well. I love Emma's language by the way! That takes a lot of creative juice to come up with something like that. Be careful... you may have a genius on your hands!!!

Right on on your bottom three Kristy. Wow.

I agree with you on everything. Can I just add that I really did not like Benji's swing dance. I'm sure that if Benji had been doing it it would have been great only because it's Benji but no one else can really pull it off. I didn't like the dance he choreographed last year either. Can we just pull him off the list of choreographers? Please.

I also didn't really care for Thayne and Comfort's dances. Hardly at all. It was fine given that Comfort is a hip hop dancer but no one else would have gotten away with doing those dances like that. I really think Thayne and Comfort should have gone home this week. I'm okay with Kourtni and Matt going home because I think they probably only had another week left but do I really have to watch Thayne and Comfort again next week?
