Since there's no WAY I'm getting to sleep tonight... I'll just do this now.
* Note to readers: This is where my real Twi-Crazy is gonna come out, so if you wanna be spared the carnage, feel free to skip this post. You've been fairly warned. *
And on that note.... !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There's just no words, that's all that I can come up with!
Okay, I've gotta compose myself enough to gather a few coherent thoughts. Focus, Kristen. Let's just say, I am a Twilight Fan that has not been dissapointed to even the slightest degree. Where do I begin? For me, personally, everything about the Twilight movie was PERFECT.
Let me qualify that a little: by perfect, I do not mean "exactly as I always pictured in the book" or "an exact recreation of the book, down to every last little detail." I mean, the perfect movie-version of Twilight. The filmmakers successfully accomplished the crucial task: they found the perfect balance of integrity to the novel, and creative changes to enhance the cinematic experience of the story. They stayed true to just the right parts of the book, and changed just the right parts to help it translate better into a visual medium.
For example - I think every fan can agree that endless talks in Edward's car could get a little dry onscreen. So they're out walking through the lush forest & along towering cliffs? They're still talking about the same stuff, and we get to enjoy the scenery! I certainly won't be more specific than that in order to remain spoiler-free; but suffice it say that, while much was changed, even more was the same - and it all combined to glorious perfection. :D * sigh... *
There was one particular scene towards the end that I would've loved to see more closely aligned to the book (I'll let you all see it & make guesses later). But, the way it was done was still very good, and that one complaint holds very little weight against every other moment that I would not have changed one bit of.
The acting was excellent, the cinematography was both sweeping & intimate, and the comedy was actually surprising! And EDWARD!!!!!! I can't even allow myself to start into that topic, I don't think Blogspot allows me that much server space...
I have been obsessively following the making of this movie for almost a year now, and have seen/read my fair share of behind-the-scenes footage, officially (& unofficially) released clips, movie stills, cast interviews, filming reports... Let's just say, I was pretty in-the-know about what the movie would hold & thought I knew what to expect.
I did not. My expectations were entirely exceeeded! (Truth be told, I actually ended up being SHOCKED by how closely it did stick to the books, specifically how much exact dialogue was used.)
But, I know that's because I had learned enough beforehand to know about certain changes made, specific departures from the novel; so I was able to leave all my visions of the book itself at the door, and just be ready to enjoy & appreciate the MOVIE. They're different, but in the end & where it really matters, they're the same.
I encourage every Twilight fan out there planning to see the movie (PLEASE go this weekend!!) to do just this: forget about seeing the book exactly recreated on the screen, and let yourself be open to the story the filmmakers have to tell. You WILL see classic parts that you know & love from the book, and you'll also get to experience some new things that I think will just DAZZLE you :D hehe I had to...
And now, to try to get to sleep..... I think a lullaby would really help.... Oh, Edward? :)
A long overdue update

you kill me kristen!! glad you were so entirely satisfied. :)
wow i'm surprised of your satisfaction....usually big fans (aka harry potter fans etc) get disappointed when a movie comes out. but i'm happy to see, i'm just gonna wait a week when there's no screaming girls in the audience and i can pick my seat freely...still not sold on edward:( i'll get back to you after the movie:)
oh this is brooklyn...i'm on daves computer:)
Brooklyn, my theatre was actually pretty silent! You forget that, while it is a theatre full of teeny-year olds, none of them wants to miss a WORD of what's being said! Very well-behaved bunch.
And I have no grand delusions about you coming to like Edward; if you don't by now you're just a lost cause. ;)
Now everyone can see the REAL reason why I was sent 3,000 miles away for these past few months - so as to not interfere with the apparent "joy" and "perfection" that is Edward Cullen. Sigh... Glad you liked it Wifey!
good call on no one wanting to miss a beat of the oh so hot...i mean sewer looking edward. j/k i'm excited to see it!
